12 Best Craft Beer Bars in Tbilisi

Georgian microbrews, sours and a few in-house breweries: the 12 Tbilisi craft beer bars we'd send you to, with what's on tap and how late they pour.

  1. 1

    Tsota Tsota

  2. 2

    Hopa Taproom

  3. 3

    Process Craft Beer Bar

Mariam Beridze, Food & Drinks Editor

Beer is the newer half of drinking in Tbilisi, and it shows in the rooms: most of these bars are small, the draught list is short, and the fridge does the rest. Use it when you want a table and 3 hours rather than a cocktail menu, or when someone has had enough wine. It runs from taprooms you could fill with 6 friends to beer gardens, brewpubs and a sausage counter that shuts at 5 PM.

7 of the 12 sit in Old Tbilisi, close enough that 3 in a night is a walk; the other 5 are out in Vake, Saburtalo and the north. Doors open from 9 AM to 7 PM, and most nights finish between midnight and 2 AM. Ask what's on tap before you order: the Georgian small-batch beer is the reason to be here. The list runs 1 to 12, best first.

#1. Tsota Tsota -

Perfect for

  • Trying new beers
  • A quiet beer
  • Dogs welcome

Megobrebi Brewery makes the beer, and this is where it lands: the brewery's own taproom on Geronti Kikodze, in the middle of old Tbilisi. Sour is what it specialises in, by its own description, so the board runs smoothie sours, mixed fermentation sours, wine ales and the hoppy things in between. There are tables inside and out, doors open at 4 PM and close at 1 AM, 7 days a week. Come at the start of the night, while you can still read a beer list properly, and bring the dog if you have one.

Known for: Ask what the sour of the moment is. Past pours have included Mshobliuri, a smoothie sour ale built on raspberry, redcurrant, banana and nuts, and the collaboration beers rotate as well, brewed with breweries along the 42nd parallel. One reviewer warns there are no tasters, so you order by description rather than by sip. Read the board, pick the strangest thing on it, and see what happens.

#2. Hopa Taproom -

Perfect for

  • Outdoor tables
  • Georgian craft beer
  • An afternoon beer

Small enough that the pavement is part of the room. Hopa pours Georgian beer and nothing else, 12 kinds on draught and a fridge of bottles behind them, on a quiet stretch of Atoneli. One reviewer counts 3 stools inside and several tables out on the patio, which tells you where you'll be sitting for most of the year. It opens at noon, so it covers a beer in daylight as well as a last one before the 1 AM close. Google puts the range at 10 to 20 GEL, so working through the taps is the cheap kind of research.

Known for: The draught list is the whole proposition: 12 taps, all of them Georgian, from breweries small enough that you won't have seen the labels in a supermarket. Ask what came on this week, because some lines run out and get replaced. If none of the 12 is your style, the bottles in the fridge are the backup, and you'll be drinking them out on the patio either way.

#3. Process Craft Beer Bar -

Perfect for

  • Board games
  • Bottles and cans
  • Late drinks

The fridges are doing most of the work here. Process is a single room on Merab Kostava stocked with up to 50 craft beers and ciders from Georgian microbreweries, by the bar's own count, plus a few lines on tap. Board games and a jukebox both turn up in its review topics, and an hour turns into 3 without anyone deciding it should. It runs 5 PM to 2 AM every day. 2 reviewers flag the prices as higher than the bar down the street, which is the trade for cans you won't find in a supermarket.

Known for: There's no house beer to point at, so the move is to say what you drank last and let whoever is working pull something off the shelf. The range is Georgian microbrew, IPA and cider, the staff speak English, and the explaining is part of the service rather than an upsell. Board games are stacked by the tables if the conversation needs a structure.

#4. Sma -

Perfect for

  • Beer and a burger
  • Georgian craft beer
  • Meeting people

Feels like home is the line Sma uses on itself, and the room backs it up: a small space on Lado Asatiani, a few tables out front and a piano that comes up in 13 reviews. The counter pours Georgian craft and the bar's own homebrews, with cider and stout among them. The burgers are the other reason people come, which is unusual for a beer bar and a good argument for arriving hungry. It pours from 4 PM to 12:30 AM daily.

Known for: Order a Georgian craft beer and a burger, the pairing the bar sells itself on: the burgers are named in 58 reviews against 88 for the craft beer. The board runs local craft plus homebrews that do not exist outside this room, with stout and cider on it, and Belarusian bottles turn up as well. If the few tables out front are taken, you're better off at the counter anyway.

#5. Number 8 -

Perfect for

  • Watching the football
  • Dinner and beer
  • Solo at the bar

Number 8 is the reason to stay uphill. It sits on Irakli Abashidze in Vake, well away from the Old Tbilisi cluster, and it is built for a long sit rather than a quick one, with sport on the screens and enough room at the bar that Google flags it for solo dining. The taps run house beers, cider and Guinness, and the kitchen goes past bar snacks into burgers, khinkali and grilled salmon. Noon opening, 1 AM close, every day of the week. One reviewer's advice is to call ahead on a busy night, and the bar takes reservations.

Known for: Cider on tap is the break from hops, and the Guinness is there for the night when nothing else appeals. The food is a menu rather than a bowl of crisps: nachos, burgers, khinkali, salmon off the grill. Google puts a night here at 20 to 60 GEL, the top of this list, so order the beer you actually want instead of the cheapest line on the board.

#6. Optimist Craft Bar -

Perfect for

  • Cheap rounds
  • Courtyard drinking
  • DJ nights

Photo: Google Maps

You get in through an arch off Nato Vachnadze and then a courtyard, and the courtyard is the point: an old Tbilisi yard near Freedom Square with 10 taps of draught craft beer in it. Beer, cider and mead at 10 to 20 GEL, and more beer in the fridge than on the board. It's shut on Mondays and runs 7 PM to 2 AM the rest of the week, finishing at midnight on Sunday. Saturday nights lean reggae and dub. There's a resident cat, and he decides how the introduction goes.

Known for: Food nights are how the yard fills up: tacos at 10 GEL a portion when you order 2 or more, shawarma from 16 GEL, burger night at 18. Reviewers name the mango sour and the smoothie sour, so start there if fruit is your direction. Dinner and a beer for under 30 GEL is not the going rate this close to Freedom Square.

#7. World's End Bar -

Perfect for

  • Karaoke night
  • Darts and foosball
  • Live rock
Brick-vaulted bar cellar with illuminated counter at World's End Bar
Photo: Google Maps

A cellar under Shalva Dadiani with rock on the speakers, darts, board games, a foosball table and a Cthulhu theme running through the decor. Local beer and cocktails both sit at the cheap end for Sololaki, and the food is snacks rather than dinner, so eat first. Something is on most nights: karaoke on Wednesday and Saturday, quiz nights, stand-up, live music roughly every other week. Doors at 7 PM, 2 AM on Friday and Saturday, a 6 PM start and midnight finish on Sunday, closed Monday.

Known for: Beer here is local and cheap enough that a round stops being a decision, and the vodka infusions are what to move to once you've had enough hops for the night. One reviewer swears by the Crazy Diamond shots. Then pick a game, because the darts and the foosball table are the reason people are still here at 1 AM.

#8. Old Time Sausage House -

Perfect for

  • Beer before 5 PM
  • A quick stop
  • Lunch on 20 GEL

Photo: Google Maps

Beer at 11 AM is a decision, and Old Time is where you make it. This Nadzaladevi beer garden opens at 9 AM and closes at 5 PM every day of the week, which makes it the daytime entry on a list of night places. It runs on self-service: you point at the tap, point at the pot of hot sausages and hold up fingers. It's small and plain inside, with stand-up tables and a 4.6 rating across 527 reviews behind it. Come for lunch and a draft, then go somewhere else for the evening.

Photo: Google Maps

Known for: Order the sausages and a draft beer, because that is the menu: vienna sausages lifted out of hot water, brown rye bread and mustard. Vienna sausage alone is named in 79 reviews, which tells you what to point at. One reviewer handed over 20 GEL and got 4 sausages, bread, mustard and a beer for it, so order by the number of people rather than by the item.

#9. Rudeboy Bar -

Perfect for

  • Beer and pinza
  • Late drinks
  • Trying local brews

Photo: Google Maps

Rudeboy brews its own beer and bakes its own pinza, and the reviews cannot decide which of the 2 is the reason to go. It sits on Shalva Dadiani just off Liberty Square, pouring house lager next to IPA, cider and guest taps, with Italian food and natural wine on the same menu. The room is lamplight, wood and graffiti, and cosy is the word its reviews keep reaching for. Come here when the plan is beer and dinner in one sitting rather than a crawl. It's closed on Mondays, opens at 5 PM and runs to 2 AM on Friday and Saturday.

Known for: Order a pinza with whatever the brewery has on. The Tartufo comes with truffle sauce, mozzarella, mushrooms and parmesan, and the IPA is named in 9 reviews and the cider in 10, which are the 2 to pick between. One reviewer arrived to find the house beer sold out and Krombacher and Guinness in its place, so ask what's actually pouring before you order a round.

#10. 2 Tona -

Perfect for

  • Beer with khinkali
  • Family dinner
  • Late dinner
Industrial taproom with brewery tanks and a bar counter at 2 Tona
Photo: Google Maps

Most of this list is a walk from Liberty Square. 2 Tona is not, and people go out to Mukhiani for it anyway. It's a brewery with a proper kitchen behind it, open 11 AM to 1 AM every day, and the khinkali gets talked about more than the beer does. Honey ale, mtsvadi, lobiani, chicken shashlik and burgers fill in the rest of the board. Come here when you want dinner built around the beer rather than crisps, with the family or a table of friends. Bookings go through its own reservation page.

Known for: Order the khinkali and the honey ale together: the khinkali is named in 55 reviews here and the honey ale in 4, and between them they are what people ride out to Mukhiani for. The rating sits at 4.4 across 903 reviews, which is a lot of dinners. One reviewer was charged 3 GEL for a saucer of sauce, so check what arrives as an extra.

#11. Beer Time -

Perfect for

  • Watching football
  • Beer with dinner

Photo: Google Maps

You can tell what Beer Time is for by where everyone is looking. Screens go round the room, and the football pulls as hard here as the tap list does. It's on Alexander Kazbegi Avenue in Saburtalo, 4.5 across 1,000 Google reviews, with a kitchen turning out khinkali and burgers underneath it. Come here when the match is on and you want dinner with it, or when you're on this side of town and Old Tbilisi is too far to bother with. It takes bookings online, which is worth doing on a match night.

Known for: The beer is the reason to come, and the staff will pick for you if you hesitate, which is the easiest way through the list. Khinkali is what the kitchen gets named for, at 2.3 GEL each, with the burgers behind it. 2 reviewers who turned up after midnight found the doors already shut, so treat the 2 AM closing time as a hope rather than a promise.

#12. Paulaner Beer Garden -

Perfect for

  • Watching sports
  • Sitting outside
  • Beer and shashlik

Davit Aghmashenebeli Avenue is where dinner gets easy, and this is the beer garden doing the heavy lifting on it. There's an open terrace for the months that allow one, and a 4.5 rating from 530 reviews behind it. German beer goes out alongside a Georgian menu, and the sport goes on the screens. Come here with a group that wants a table outside and no argument about the menu. It runs 10 AM to midnight daily, and the parking, the seating and the restroom are all marked wheelchair accessible.

Known for: Order the adjaruli khachapuri and let the beer follow it. Khinkali turns up in 10 reviews and shashlik in 6, and the kebab off the grill fills the table around them. One reviewer warns that asking for a Hefeweizen can get you a lager, so look at what's actually on the tap before you commit to a round.

Frequently asked questions

What Georgian craft beer can you drink in Tbilisi?

Most of what these 12 bars pour is made in Georgia. Tsota Tsota is the taproom of Megobrebi Brewery, and its own description leads on smoothie sours, mixed fermentation sours, wine ales and hoppy beers. Hopa Taproom lists 12 Georgian beers on draught plus a fridge of bottles, and Process Craft Beer Bar counts up to 50 craft beers and ciders from microbreweries.

How much does a craft beer cost in Tbilisi?

Google puts Hopa Taproom and Optimist Craft Bar in its 10 to 20 GEL per person band, and Number 8 in the 20 to 60 band, the widest on this list. Most of the other bars publish no price at all. One Process Craft Beer Bar reviewer found the bottles pricier than the bars a few doors down, so read the list before the second round.

Which Tbilisi bars brew their own beer?

4 of the 12. Tsota Tsota is Megobrebi Brewery's taproom in the old town, built on sours and hoppy beers. Rudeboy Bar's Google listing promises its own brewery, though one reviewer arrived to find the house beer sold out. 2 Tona is out in Mukhiani, and Sma lists exclusive homebrews next to the Georgian craft on its board.

What time do craft beer bars in Tbilisi open and close?

6 of the 12 open between 4 PM and 7 PM and stop serving between midnight and 2 AM. The daytime half starts earlier: Old Time Sausage House runs 9 AM to 5 PM, Paulaner Beer Garden and Beer Time open at 10 AM, 2 Tona at 11 AM, and Hopa Taproom and Number 8 at 12 PM. Optimist Craft Bar, World's End Bar and Rudeboy Bar all close on Mondays.

Which area of Tbilisi is best for craft beer?

Old Tbilisi, where 7 of the 12 sit. World's End Bar and Rudeboy Bar are two doors apart on Shalva Dadiani Street, at numbers 7 and 9, so the second round needs no taxi. Lado Asatiani, Geronti Kikodze, Atoneli and Nato Vachnadze are all a short walk from there. The other 5 are in Vake, Saburtalo, Mukhiani, Nadzaladevi and on Aghmashenebeli, and those you ride to.

Can you taste a beer before you order?

Usually not. One Tsota Tsota reviewer asked to try a beer before ordering, was refused and left. A Hopa Taproom reviewer raised the same thing in September 2026 and asked the bar to bring in tasters. Ask the bartender to talk you through the taps instead: Process Craft Beer Bar's own description promises you will learn something about each drink you order.

Which craft beer bars in Tbilisi do proper food?

Most of them. Sma is a gastropub by Google's categories, and its burgers turn up in 58 reviews. Rudeboy Bar's pinza is mentioned 28 times and 2 Tona's khinkali 55 times. Paulaner Beer Garden gets named for khinkali and adjaruli khachapuri, and Optimist Craft Bar runs taco nights from 10 GEL a portion.
