Tbilisi Nightlife: Where to Go Out and When Bars Close

Tbilisi's night has an order to it. It starts with wine, because wine is what Georgia is known for and the wine bars close first, moves through cocktail bars, taprooms and karaoke rooms that run to 2, 3 or 4 AM, and ends, if you let it, in a techno club that opens around midnight and lets you out into daylight.

It's also good value. Cocktails at the bars reviewers put a price on run about 22 to 35 GEL, one reviewer's lager at a pub cost 5 GEL, and the most famous techno club in the city priced most of its 2026 nights at 40 to 62 GEL online.

If you only have one night, start with the best bars in Tbilisi, a list that mixes wine bars, cocktail bars and taprooms. Then plan the rest of the night around where you want to be at 2 AM.

Later than you're used to, and later again at the weekend. By their Google hours, 65 of the 108 bars and clubs on our nightlife lists stay open until 2 AM or later on a Saturday, 39 until 3 AM and 18 until 5 AM or later. The kind of bar matters more than the day: wine bars are the early ones, cocktail and karaoke bars the late ones.

Midweek thins it out. On a Wednesday, 22 of the 108 are still open after 2 AM, and the weekend clubs (Khidi, Mtkvarze, Left Bank, Cafe Gallery and Bassiani) don't open at all.

Sololaki, the old quarter around Shalva Dadiani Street, is the one area built for walking between bars. Within a few minutes' walk of Dadi Wine Bar there are 30 bars and clubs from our lists, so you can do wine, beer, chacha and cocktails without a taxi.

That's why the weekly pub crawl sets off in Sololaki on Friday and Saturday nights. The streets are short, the bars close in a sensible order and the late ones are on the same 2 streets as the early ones.

The clubs sit apart, mostly on the river: Mtkvarze and Left Bank on the left embankment, Khidi on the Heydar Aliyev Embankment, Sakhelosno in Rike Park by the Bridge of Peace, and Bassiani under the Dinamo Arena stadium on Akaki Tsereteli Avenue. Bassiani and Khidi are a car ride from the old town, so plan the last leg of the night before you're on it.

Start here, and start early. The wine bars pour everything from crisp whites to skin-contact amber wine, and they're the first rooms in town to empty.

Vino Underground on Galaktion Tabidze Street shuts at midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, Nino Meris Wine Selection at 12:30 AM, and Dadi Wine Bar and 8000 Vintages at 1 AM. Plan the wine for 7 or 8 PM and you won't be ordering against last call.

The natural wine bars are where Tbilisi drinking is at its most particular. At Dadi, one reviewer's server walked them from white wine through different ambers to a red, and another reviewer sends people there to discover natural wines from the region.

The cocktail bars are where the night settles in. They keep going, too: 12 of the 15 on our list are open until 2 AM or later on a Saturday, and 3 of them until 5 AM.

41° Art of Drinks on Galaktion Tabidze Street is open until 3 AM every night, and one reviewer prices the cocktails at 25 to 35 GEL while another says they're all 29. One reviewer who isn't usually a cocktail person had the bartender ask what flavours they liked and remake the drink that missed.

At The Gin Corner, one reviewer puts each cocktail at roughly 27 GEL. For the last stop, Bar 22 on the same stretch of Galaktion Tabidze pours cocktails and homemade tinctures, the Polish nalewka its reviewers keep naming, until 5 AM on Fridays and Saturdays.

Sunset belongs to the rooftop bars, and so does the first drink if the weather's on your side. Most are a drink-and-a-view stop rather than a whole night: 2 of the 12 on our list close before midnight and only 5 run to 2 AM or later.

The exception is Terrace Bar at 7 Doki Turn, open 7 PM to 5 AM every night by its Google hours, which makes it both the sunset stop and a last one. One reviewer found the food choice small and the prices a bit above average, so come for the view.

Rum Roof on Galaktion Tabidze Street has put on DJ evenings from 9 PM to 11 PM this year, and its Instagram priced a ticket at 40 GEL with a signature cocktail included. It closes at 1 AM, so it's a start, not a finish.

Georgia brews more than its wine reputation suggests, and the craft beer bars pour it from local breweries. Tsota Tsota on Geronti Kikodze Street is the taproom of Megobrebi Brewery, which lists smoothie-style sours, mixed-fermentation sours, wine ales and hoppy beers as its speciality.

Its own slogan is that modern Georgian beer lives here, and it's the quickest way to see what Georgian beer looks like past the lager. The taprooms keep wine-bar hours, though: Tsota Tsota and HOPA close at 1 AM, Sma at 12:30 AM, and none of the 12 on our list pours past 2 AM on a Saturday.

For a match or a cheap lager, the pubs and sports bars are the least fussy doors in town, and 10 of the 13 on our list run to 2 AM or later on a Saturday. One reviewer paid 5 GEL a lager at Warszawa on Pushkin Street, which stays open until 4 AM, and World's End on Shalva Dadiani Street runs on rock music, darts and board games.

Jazz, bands and DJs fill the bars with live music, and 12 of the 15 on our list stay open until 2 AM or later on a Saturday. The bigger nights sell tickets, so check a venue's Instagram before you set out.

1984 Jazz Club on Rustaveli Avenue listed a September 2026 show at 30 GEL online, 40 GEL at the door and 20 GEL standing. L'Ado, a bar in what it calls a 130-year-old baroque mansion on Abo Tbileli Street, sold concert tickets at 25 GEL online and 30 GEL at the door, and one reviewer says the beats pick up later in the evening until the room turns club-like.

Karaoke is a serious late-night sport here, and 12 of the 15 rooms on our list run to 2 AM or later. Choice Sharden, on Bambis Rigi just off Shardeni Street, sings until 4 AM every night, and Studio8 Karaoke on the same lane goes to 5 AM.

New in town and short of people to sing with? Crossroads Bar on Shalva Dadiani Street runs karaoke on Tuesdays and Sundays, and one reviewer rates it one of the best places to meet people as a foreigner.

The nightclubs come in 2 kinds. The techno clubs open on Friday and Saturday nights and run into the next morning, while the rest, Sakhelosno, Club Arena and Safe Night Club among them, open every night until 5, 6 or 7 AM.

The techno rooms are what the city's nightlife is famous for. Bassiani is under the Dinamo Arena stadium, Khidi under a road bridge on the river, Mtkvarze on the left embankment with, in one reviewer's words, a little balcony over the river for a chill-out, and Left Bank has 2 indoor dance floors plus an outdoor space with its own DJ booth.

Entry costs less than the reputation. Bassiani's own site priced its 2026 nights at 22 to 112 GEL online, most of them 40 to 62 GEL, and Khidi's pre-sale tiers for an October night were 30 and 40 GEL; both open their doors around midnight, and the rooms fill later. Each of the techno clubs publishes its own house rules, and they're strict about ID, photos and anyone who's had too much.

The scene has a political streak, too. In May 2018 armed police raided Bassiani and Cafe Gallery, and within hours thousands were dancing in protest outside Parliament.

Face control is real at the techno clubs: it's the most discussed thing in Bassiani's Google reviews, with 50 mentions, and Khidi's reviewers bring it up 23 times. Nobody publishes a door policy you can game, but the clubs do publish their rules.

• Age and ID: Bassiani and Left Bank admit only over-18s and ask for ID at the door; Cafe Gallery's Tuesday series in 2025 was 21 and over.
• Sober enough: both turn away anyone visibly drunk or high, and Bassiani's rules let it refuse entry for undisclosed security reasons.
• Searches: walking into Bassiani or Left Bank means agreeing to be searched.
• Phones and cameras: Bassiani bans photo and video, and Left Bank's rules keep phones off the dance floor and have your camera lens covered at the door.
• Clothes: no club on our lists publishes a dress code.

Outside the techno scene, the door is often the table. One reviewer booked a table at The Bank Club for 150 GEL including snacks, with every order charged separately and a 25% service charge on top, and another was asked for a deposit of 150 or 200 GEL a person to sit at a table at Weather Report Sky Bar.

So ask what a table costs before you sit down. Then read the bill for a service line before you add a tip on top of it.

Eating late is easy. Every spot on our late-night food list is open until 2 AM or later on a Saturday, and Dariko on Orbeliani Square serves handmade khinkali and Adjarian khachapuri until its kitchen closes at 1:30 AM.

After that it's shawarma. On the same list, Shaurmafia, Shawarma Madliani and Shawarma House are open 24 hours by their Google hours, and Shawarma House's reviewers keep bringing up the portion size.

And if the night ends after sunrise, the old Tbilisi answer is khashi, the garlicky tripe soup Georgians eat at dawn after a long night. It's traditionally served with a small glass of chacha, which is a decision best made after the soup.

Here's how a Saturday runs if you want the whole thing, with each stop's Google closing time so nothing shuts in your face. Swap any stop for another on the same list; the order is what matters.

Plenty of good Tbilisi nights never go near a club. Pick by the mood you're in.

• Watching the sun go down: a rooftop at 7 PM, with the old town lighting up below.
• A night of jazz: a seated show at 1984 Jazz Club on Rustaveli Avenue.
• Singing badly with strangers: the karaoke rooms off Shardeni Street.
• A film on a Sunday: Left Bank, the club on the left embankment, holds free film screenings on Sundays.
• Learning the wine: a wine tasting in the early evening, before the wine bars start closing.
• A festival night: the New Wine Festival in Mtatsminda Park in May and Tbilisoba in October (3 and 4 October in 2026) are the 2 dates on the food festival calendar when the whole city drinks outdoors.
• Somewhere green: Satburi, an old orangery in Mushtaidi Park restored as a cluster of bars and restaurants with an outdoor dance area.

There's no city-wide drinks price worth trusting, so the table sticks to what reviewers and the venues themselves put on record in 2026. Each line is one reviewer or one post, not a menu.

Add it up for 1 person: 2 cocktails at 41° at 29 GEL each and a Khidi pre-sale ticket at 30 GEL come to 88 GEL before you've bought a drink inside. A night of wine bars and a taproom costs a fraction of that.

Tbilisi is an easy city to be out in late. The UK government's travel advice for Georgia says crime levels are low and asks you to watch for pickpockets in crowded places, and its specific warnings for a night out are about drinks and strangers.

Getting home takes an app. Tbilisi's metro runs from 6 AM to midnight, so it's shut for most of a club night, and the UK advice is to book taxis through an app rather than flag one in the street; Bolt is one that works here.

Carry your passport or ID card if a club is on the plan, because the doors ask for it, and the UK advice adds that police and businesses expect to see a passport if they ask. Don't be casual about drugs: the same advice warns of 5 to 25 years in jail for possessing or using them, cannabis included. It also notes that same-sex sexual activity is legal but same-sex relationships are still not widely accepted, and that showing affection in public may draw harassment.

Smoking is out indoors. Since 1 May 2018 Georgian law has banned smoking in all enclosed public places, e-cigarettes included, so bars and clubs send smokers outside.
