Food Delivery in Tbilisi: Apps, Costs and Late-Night Orders

3 apps, 2 subscriptions at 8.99 GEL, and the kitchens still delivering at 2 AM

Mariam Beridze, Food & Drinks Editor

Food delivery in Tbilisi runs on 3 apps, Wolt, Glovo and Bolt Food, and between them they'll bring you a shawarma at 2 AM or a bottle of wine on a Sunday night. The app matters less than the kitchen behind it: what travels, and who's still cooking after midnight. Here's how the apps and their subscriptions compare, what to order and where from.

Wolt, Glovo or Bolt Food: which app to use

Some kitchens are on every app: Berlin Shaurma, #1 on our shawarma list, lists Wolt, Glovo and Bolt on its Instagram. If you only install one, make it Wolt, which is named at more places on our lists than the other 2 combined.

AppDeliversNamed at
WoltRestaurants, groceries, alcohol, health products, flowers21 places
GlovoRestaurants, groceries, pharmacy and beauty, parcels10 places
Bolt FoodRestaurants, with a courier tip at checkout8 places

Add Glovo for pharmacy runs and parcels, and Bolt Food if you already ride with Bolt. Yandex Go does rides and courier parcels in Georgia, but no restaurant food.

What delivery costs, and when a subscription pays

The fee is a few lari on top of what a meal costs in Tbilisi, and it rises with distance. Wolt's Georgian homepage promises 30 minutes, but the busiest counters run queues of couriers: one walk-in reviewer at a shawarma place waited over an hour behind 20 or more of them.

Wolt+ and Glovo Prime both drop the delivery fee on eligible orders. Which one pays depends on which app your usual kitchens use.

What to order: food that survives the ride

Google's listings show which kitchens are built for delivery. Street food, pizza, burgers and grilled meat nearly all deliver, while Georgian dining rooms mostly expect you to come to them.

Shawarma is the city's delivery staple, and the portions suit it. Flash Shawarma's listing names all 3 apps, and one reviewer splits its big shawarma into 2 or 3 sittings.

Noodles and curries travel too. One reviewer found Fire Wok, from our cheap eats list, as good by Wolt as its reviews promised, and another calls Aroma, #1 on our Indian list, a new go-to after a Wolt order.

Food delivery after midnight

An app can only deliver from a kitchen that's open. On our lists, 23 kitchens that list delivery on Google stay open to 2 AM or later on a Saturday, and 6 never close, 4 of them shawarma counters; 7 of the 23 are on our late-night food list.

Check the delivery hours too. Of the 14 places on our lists that post separate delivery hours on Google, 8 stop delivering 30 minutes to 3 hours before the room closes: Stumari seats you until midnight but delivers until 10 PM.

When a delivery order arrives wrong

Reviews on our lists describe the same few failures: 2 woks out of 4, 3 items out of 4, a cold pizza and an order cancelled after 90 minutes. Twice, the restaurant sent the customer back to the app.

Frequently asked questions

Which food delivery apps work in Tbilisi?

Wolt, Glovo and Bolt Food, and you order and pay in the app. Wolt is named most at places on our lists, 21 of 27, against 10 for Glovo and 8 for Bolt Food, and it also runs in 8 more Georgian cities.

Can I get food delivered late at night in Tbilisi?

Yes, until 2 AM from plenty of kitchens and all night from a few. On our lists, 23 kitchens that list delivery stay open to 2 AM or later on a Saturday, and 6 never close. Check the app's delivery hours, which can end before the dining room shuts.

Can I get khachapuri or khinkali delivered in Tbilisi?

Yes. Gobi, Pub Georgian and Lavera list delivery, and Lavera never closes. Order a round, sliced khachapuri rather than the Adjarian boat, and eat khinkali as soon as they arrive. Choice is thinner than for shawarma: only 3 places on our list of 15 Georgian restaurants show delivery.

Do the apps deliver groceries, pharmacy items or alcohol?

Yes. Wolt's Tbilisi page carries groceries, alcohol, health products and flowers, and Glovo's has groceries, pharmacy and beauty, and parcels. Wine shops deliver too: Wine Store Orbeliani's Google listing gives delivery hours until 2 AM, 3 hours after its door shuts.

Do I tip the delivery courier in Tbilisi?

It's optional, and a few lari is plenty. Bolt Food takes a tip at checkout when you pay by card, and a cash tip at the door works with any app. Georgia's national tourism site says an in-app tip reaches the courier in full, which makes couriers the simple end of tipping in Georgia.
